Aruba Piano Festival

Welcome to the webpage of the Aruba International Piano Festival

The festival was established in 2006 and has developed an international reputation for its distinguished artists and innovative programming across a range of chamber music styles.

Besides the core chamber concert series, the festival has a number of other key components focusing on music and education.

Alessio Bax

Alessio Bax is an Italian classical pianist. Bax was born in 1977 in Bari, Italy, and graduated from the Bari conservatory at the age of 14.

Lucille Chung

The Canadian pianist, Lucille Chung, graduated from both the Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School before she turned 20.

Alissa Margulis

The Guardian describes Alissa Margulis’ playing as “exceptional“, Ivry Gitlis praises it as “a revelation” and Martha Argerich calls her a “strong musical personality”.

APF launches new website

As its 6th edition approaches, the Aruba Piano Festival has never looked better! And with a brand new website we start preparing for a new chapter in the history of the festival. After last year’s amazing lustrum, the 2013 festival now has a new format. The Aruba Piano Festival is planned to take place on four different islands: Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao and St. Martin.

Alessio Bax & Lucille Chung return

Alessio Bax & Lucille ChungThe Italian and Canadian pianists are a married couple with a thriving duo career alongside busy solo careers. Alessio Bax is the winner of major international competitions at Hamamatsu (1997) and Leeds (2000). Lucille Chung, a Montreal native and graduate of both Curtis and Juilliard, won First Prize at the 1989 Stravinsky Competition. In 2003, the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival put them together as a piano duo at the National Arts Centre for their Piano Extravaganza, where their performance was hailed as “a lucid and deeply moving musical experience” in American Record Guide.

Wim Statius Muller receives Silver Carnation

This year, Wim Statius Muller was awarded the Silver Carnation “Zilveren Anjer” of the Prince Bernhard Culture Fund (Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds) at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. He received this award from Her Majesty Queen Beatrix. Statius Muller received the Silver Carnation for his outstanding contribution as a composer and pianist of the Curaçaolean music.
